Morskie Oko Lake Day Trip in the Tatra Mountains from Krakow

4.9 (29 verified reviews)

About This Experience

This is the simpler of Legendary Krakow's two Morskie Oko trips: no Zakopane stop, just the lake. The driver collects you from your accommodation; the exact time is confirmed the evening before, and the listing warns the driver may be up to 15 minutes late.

The drive takes about two hours each way, depending on traffic. Cars stop at Palenica Białczańska, and from there you walk about 8 km each way on an asphalt road through the forest to the lake. Since 1 September 2026 horse carriages run only from Palenica Białczańska to Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza (about 2.9 km), so carriage riders still walk the rest of the way to the lake.

The listing allows about two hours of walking each way, while the park service puts it at about 2.5 hours each way and suggests allowing at least seven hours for the whole outing. On a nine-hour day that leaves limited time at the lake, so keep a steady pace.

Your park entrance ticket, water and a small gift of traditional cottage cheeses are included. Food is not. The group option takes two to eight travellers, and a private option with your own vehicle costs a little more per person.
