Morskie Oko Lake, SkyWalk Poronin and Zakopane from Krakow

About This Experience

This tour is built around transport. A van or minibus collects you from your hotel early in the morning and drives about two hours south to the edge of Tatra National Park, where you get free time to walk to Morskie Oko at your own pace.

Cars stop at Palenica Białczańska. From there the walk is about 8 km each way on an asphalt road, which the park service puts at about 2.5 hours each way. The itinerary allows about two hours up, an hour at the lake and two hours back, so keep a steady pace. Since 1 September 2026 horse carriages run only from Palenica Białczańska to Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza (about 2.9 km), so carriage riders still walk the rest of the way to the lake.

Later the van stops near SkyWalk Poronin, a viewing tower near Zakopane, which you can visit on your own; the entry ticket is not included. Then you get about two hours of free time in Zakopane to eat, walk around or take the funicular up Gubałówka.

On the way back to Krakow there is a short stop in Chochołów, a village known for its wooden highland houses. Park entry, SkyWalk entry, meals and any carriage ride are paid by you, and the listing warns that places in the high mountains take cash only.

Starting off, Thomas is wonderful! He was very prompt, polite and easy to communicate with - and he truly loves what he does! We had a great conversation and he was thoughtful, stopping for a coffee at a nice café with an overlook view of the mountains prior to dropping off at the park. He gave great directions and plenty of time to do the hike. He was prompt and right at the meeting point and was very accommodating at the skywalk. He gave wonderful dinner spot recommendations for Zakopane. He also threw in a stop at a local church and its history. I highly, HIGHLY recommend choosing this company to take your tour with! Thanks Thomas!

Thomas was an excellent guide. His knowledge about the area and history were great. He was prompt, kind, and professional. The hike is a little over 10 miles so be prepared but worth the effort. The 5 hours given is used up quickly. Thomas gave very good restaurant advice in Zakopane where refueling the body was quite welcome. Plan for a long day but great experience.
