Van transport from Krakow, an instructor-led ride of about an hour, a highlander bonfire and a three-hour ticket to Chochołowskie Termy.

  • Drink mulled wine around the fire on the colder autumn and winter dates.
  • Spend three hours in the indoor and outdoor thermal pools at Chochołowskie Termy after the ride.

  • Helmet, balaclava and gloves for the ride

How a Snowmobile Day from Krakow Works

Four things that decide what your day costs and what you actually ride.

  1. Book the seat, then budget the machine

The ticket you buy online covers transport, the guide or driver, food stops and usually the baths. The snowmobile itself is rented on the day: 400 PLN per two-seat machine, paid in cash to the local operator. Two people sharing one machine pay 200 PLN each, so decide early whether you will ride alone or together.

  2. Check the snow before you go

Several listings sell dates from early October, long before reliable snow. Krakowdirect, Fun Tours Cracow and Thousand Miles switch to quads when the cover is too thin, and KRK-KrakowTours uses quads or buggies. If the snowmobile itself is the point of the trip, pick a midwinter date and ask the operator about conditions a few days before.

  3. Ride outside the national park

Polish law bans vehicles inside Tatra National Park, so every ride runs on private land outside it, through the Podhale countryside around villages such as Witów. You follow a guide on another machine after a safety briefing. No licence is needed in Poland, though Thousand Miles only lets over-18s drive and takes children from 5 as passengers.

  4. Warm up at the bonfire and the pools

Most days follow the ride with a fire, grilled smoked sheep's-milk cheese and hot drinks, then two and a half to three hours at Chochołowskie Termy. Bring swimwear, a towel and flip-flops. Food and drink inside the baths go on your wristband, and the complex is closed from 19 to 30 October 2026, so check which baths your date uses.

SNOWMOBILE GUIDE

Zakopane Snowmobile Tours from Krakow Compared

What the ticket covers, what you pay in cash on the day, and what happens when there is no snow.

For most travellers the snowmobile day to book is Krakowdirect’s Zakopane Snowmobiles, Bonfire and Hot Springs Tour on GetYourGuide. It costs from $108 per person from a central meeting point, or about $120 with hotel pickup, and gives you a ride of about an hour with an instructor, a highlander bonfire and a three-hour ticket to Chochołowskie Termy. It holds 4.8 from 1,300 GetYourGuide reviews, the most of any snowmobile tour on this site. The same day is also sold on Viator as Zakopane Area Snowmobile Adventure and Thermal Baths from about $113 per person, so check both for your date (prices checked October 2026).

Then add the machine. On every snowmobile tour compared here, the snowmobile is rented on the day for 400 PLN per two-seat machine, paid in cash. Two people sharing one machine pay 200 PLN each; ride alone and the full 400 PLN is yours. That cash is part of the real price, so count it before you compare tickets.

What every snowmobile tour from Krakow has in common

The rental is never in the ticket. Fun Tours Cracow says plainly that its rental desk takes no cards, KRK-KrakowTours has you sign a rental agreement before paying, and Thousand Miles collects the money at a counter before the ride. Bring złoty.

Snow is not guaranteed. Several of these listings sell dates from early October, and the operators have a plan for bare ground: Krakowdirect, Fun Tours Cracow and Thousand Miles switch to quads, and KRK-KrakowTours uses quads or off-road buggies. Time4Krakow’s listing does not say what replaces the ride, so ask before booking an autumn date. If you are open to a quad instead, our Zakopane quad bike tours page compares the days built around them.

The ride never enters the national park. Polish nature-protection law bans vehicles inside Tatra National Park, and snowmobiles may not use public roads at all, so every ride runs on private land outside the park with the owner’s consent. You see the Tatras from the Podhale countryside, not from inside the range.

No licence is needed. Polish law asks for no driving licence or other qualification to drive a snowmobile. Operators set their own rules, though: Thousand Miles lets only over-18s drive and takes children from 5 as passengers on an adult’s machine.

The five snowmobile days compared

Krakowdirect’s snowmobile, bonfire and hot springs day is the simplest format: ride, fire, pools, home, in about 10 hours. Helmet, balaclava and gloves are lent to you, the bonfire comes with grilled sausage, smoked cheese, hot drinks and local spirits, and the baths ticket is a three-hour fast-track entry. There is no Zakopane town stop. See our full breakdown of this tour.

Thousand Miles’ Snowmobile Ride and Chochołów Thermal Pools gives the longest time on the machine: about two hours around Witów, bonfire included, after a 30-minute stop at a shepherd’s hut for cheese. Hotel pickup is in the price, from about $132 per person on Viator, and it holds 5.0 from 530 reviews on Viator. Its GetYourGuide twin, Snowmobile with Thermal Pools and Hotel Pickup, starts at $107 from a meeting point or about $118 with pickup, with 4.9 from 408 GetYourGuide reviews. Helmet, gloves and balaclava are lent; snowsuits are not.

Fun Tours Cracow’s Snowmobile, Zakopane and Chochołów Baths Day Trip adds culture: the wooden village of Chochołów with entry to a sculptor’s hut, then the ride, then cheese you grill yourself over a firepit, then the baths. It costs from $170 per person, about $191 or $210 depending on the pickup option, and holds 4.9 from 670 GetYourGuide reviews. On Viator the same day is Full Day Tour Zakopane Snowmobiles Thermal Baths from about $135, so compare the two prices for your date.

KRK-KrakowTours’ Snowmobile Adventure with Zakopane and Optional Thermal Pools is the only one here with a no-baths option, from $51 per person, the lowest from-price of any snowmobile tour on this site. With baths it is about $141 from a meeting point or $154 with hotel pickup. You also get Chochołów, a cheese stop in Witów and about an hour and a half in Zakopane. It holds 5.0 from 310 GetYourGuide reviews. The operator recommends one rider per machine, which doubles the cash.

Time4Krakow’s Zakopane Snowmobiles, Funicular and Hot Springs Tour packs the most sightseeing around the ride: a one-hour snowmobile run, a cheese maker’s hut, an hour in Zakopane, the Gubałówka funicular with about an hour on the ridge, and about two and a half hours at Chochołowskie Termy. One price, $113 per person, includes hotel pickup. It holds 5.0 from 215 GetYourGuide reviews.

Baths or no baths

Four of the five days end in the pools, and that is where most of the afternoon goes: two and a half to three hours at Chochołowskie Termy, where the water is kept at 32–38°C. If you would rather spend that time in town, the no-baths option of the KRK-KrakowTours day is the one to look at, or pair a ride with a sightseeing day another time. If the pools are the main attraction, our Zakopane thermal baths tours page and our Chochołów thermal baths page cover baths days without a snowmobile.

Two practical notes. Chochołowskie Termy is closed for building work from 19 to 30 October 2026, and some operators send groups to Terma Bania in Białka Tatrzańska on those dates, so confirm which baths your date uses. And anything you buy inside goes on your wristband and is paid on the way out; staying past a timed ticket costs 0.50 PLN a minute.

What to wear and what you are lent

Zakopane averages −3.3°C in January and −2.4°C in February, and you sit still on a moving machine, so dress warmer than you would for a walk. Krakowdirect lends a helmet, balaclava and gloves, and Thousand Miles lends the same but no snowsuit. On the other listings, plan to bring your own warm layers and waterproof shoes. For the baths, pack swimwear, a towel and flip-flops; KRK-KrakowTours notes towels cost 10 PLN to hire there.

When the snowmobile matters most

Book a date in the depth of winter and check conditions a few days before. Autumn dates are the likeliest to run on quads, and several recent reviews of the Krakowdirect day describe the quad version. If you want snow and highland tradition without an engine, Prime Tours Krakow’s Private Zakopane Sleigh Ride, Bonfire and Funicular runs from 31 October 2026 to 30 April 2027, swaps in a horse-drawn carriage when the snow is thin, and is priced by party size; our private Zakopane tours page explains the tiers. For Gubałówka without a snowmobile, see our Zakopane cable car tours page.

"We had an amazing day on the Zakopane tour and Will (our guide/driver) made the experience unforgettable! From start to finish, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone was having a great time. The quad bike hire was an absolute highlight and so much fun, the stop for local food was authentic and delicious, and finishing the day at the thermal baths was the perfect way to relax. Will kept everything running smoothly, shared interesting local insights along the way, and created a really fun atmosphere throughout the trip. If you’re thinking about booking this tour, definitely do it—and if you get Will as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic day. Highly recommended! We hope to return and use the snow mobiles next time!"

"Overall a great experience. Jack was our tour guide and transportation for the day. First of all, great music taste so we had an amazing drive there and back listening to some great songs. Very knowledgeable and showed us any interesting things along the way aswell as taking pictures and shared them via WhatsApp. The experience itself was great from start to finish. We had the quads as the weather was good and that was an amazing experience. The guide was informative when showing instructions and drove slow enough to follow their path but also went ahead at correct points so people can have some fun and drive a little faster which we did when appropriate. One caveat is positioning within the group, I got lucky but may have been less fortunate if I was further back behind some of the slower drivers. But I’m sure the guides would have accommodated. We were able to stop for pictures and the food was great after driving. The swimming was good, however be careful With spending there."
